Description
The Friends of Valley Falls owns a local historic property known as Valley Falls Farm, a former "gentlemen's farm" once owned by the daughter of James Batterson, founder of Traveler's Insurance and New England Granite Works. The farm is located in a historic area that has two sites on the National Register of Historic places. The Friends is an all volunteer organization, with some contracted administrative help. We have recently completed a 10-year project to create the Valley Falls Heritage Center on the property. The Center has twenty-three interpretive panels and exhibits displayed throughout six historic buildings on the site. The exhibits depict how prior owners lived, worked and played at Valley Falls Farm. All displayed artifacts were found on the site.
