Upcoming 2008 Spring Events

9:30 am - 12:30 pm
Out & About
Institutional Success Begins By Building A Better Board
Lebanon Historical Society, Lebanon.

Developing a strong, well-organized board that understands its institution; its mission, direction, resources, and potential; manages board priorities, duties, responsibilities, and issues; and improves board interaction with volunteer and paid staff – is hard work, but much more effective if you follow practical, time-tested guidelines. Participants will join with two directors, Don Muller of the American Clock and Watch Museum in Bristol and Sally Whipple of the Lebanon Historical Society and Museum in Lebanon, and their respective board presidents and learn more about effective board recruitment, training, and organization. Stacey Danielson, independent museum consultant and chair of the CLHO’s nominating committee, will review the intensive, yearlong process of building the CLHO’s board. Museum and historical society board presidents, board members, and board nominating committee members are especially encouraged to attend.

Cost: $15 members and $20 non-members.
Register: e-mail sandy@clho.org or call (203) 624-9186.
